Turning Leaf Food

Thirty years of cooking for five children and lots of company has made innkeeper Lindy Silk quite the conosuirre of the kitchen! You’re in for a delectable experience when it comes to the food at the Turning Leaf Inn.

Upon check-in, you’ll be greeted with fresh cookies, usually baked from scratch by Hannah, Joe and Lindy’s youngest daughter. She likes to experiment, so one day it might be traditional chocolate chip cookies jazzed up with a dash of lemon zest, another day she may be in the mood for more chocolate, so you might find her “Triple Chocolate Treasures,” and I’ll leave those to your imagination! Or she might be feeling healthy, so perhaps oatmeal cookies with red craisins are in order. No matter what, Hannah’s cookies will be a delight to your palate.

In the private mini-fridge in your suite, you’ll find a complimentary dessert, also made from scratch, and also subject to the whims and fancies of Lindy and Hannah. In the spring you might get a thick slab of apple walnut bread with cream cheese filling. The heat of summer usually calls for a big piece of cold, creamy coconut cake with whipped topping. Autumn is the time for pecan-sprinkled pumpkin roll with sweet cream cheese filling, and who knows what you’ll get in the winter? Something chocolate, something fruity, something creamy, something nutty. Come and be surprised!

To top it off, you can brew yourself a pot of coffee, have a cup of hot tea, or make some hot cocoa to compliment your dessert at your own private coffee bar in your suite. Or you can wait and have coffee with breakfast at the public coffee bar in the Great Room. Or both! We’re all about spoiling you lavishly here at the Turning Leaf.

And then there is the “icing on the cake” so to speak. Breakfast. Again, it depends on what groceries are on hand, how much time the cooks have, and just what sounds good that day. Regardless, it is homemade and it is delicious. Crisp bacon. Sweet yogurt parfaits with crunchy granola. Colorful fruit cups adorned with a sprig of mint, freshly picked from a pot outside. Blueberry bran muffins washed down with a glass of cold milk. Rich, meaty egg casserole made with spicy sausage, moist mushrooms and green chilies. Light, fluffy Belgian waffles topped with whipped cream and strawberries. And we’re talking real whipped cream. They actually whip the cream! Wheat biscuits shaped like leaves, smothered with smooth sausage gravy. Buttery scrambled eggs cooked with herbs fresh from the garden and seasonings that make them melt in your mouth.

The food at the Turning Leaf Inn is part of the whole experience. You don’t want to miss it.
